An Iranian lawmaker has warned that Saudi Arabia’s plan to demolish Masjid al-Nabawi [the Prophet Mohammad’s Mosque] is part of a US and Israeli scenario.

In a Monday interview, Seyyed Nasser Mousavi Largani pointed to the plans by the Wahhabis and Al Saud regime to bulldoze three of the world’s oldest mosques around Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina under the pretext of expanding the holy site.

Saudi King launches largest expansion of Prophet’s Mosque

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah laid the foundation stone for the largest expansion of the Prophet’s Mosque here yesterday. The new project will increase the mosque’s capacity to more than two million worshippers.

King Abdullah arrived here last night from the Moroccan city of Casablanca and was received at Prince Muhammad International Airport in Madinah by Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense.

New expansion of Prophet’s Mosque ordered by king

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has ordered an expansion of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah to accommodate more than 1.6 million worshippers, Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf announced yesterday.

“The new expansion of the Prophet’s Mosque is part of King Abdullah’s efforts in the service of Islam and Muslims, the latest of which was the unprecedented expansion of the Grand Mosque in Makkah,” he said.

Replicas of Two Holy Mosques added to Makkah exhibition

Two magnificent replicas of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah have been added to an exhibition opened in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

The replicas are a three dimensional presentation of the two mosques after completion of their expansion work.

The replicas are showcased at the Two Holy Mosques Exhibition in the Umm Al-Joud district on the old Makkah-Jeddah road close to the Kiswa factory, the Saudi Press Agency reported yesterday.

Two holy mosques will see projects worth SR2 billion this year

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah will implement a number of projects valued at over SR2 billion at the two holy mosques during the current financial year. Muhammad bin Nasser Al-Khozaim, deputy head of the presidency, said a total of SR1.76 billion has been earmarked for the implementation of various maintenance, operation and cleaning contracts at the Grand Mosque.

More than 250,000 Muslims are breaking their fast every day at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.

Shades built in the outside courtyards of the mosque have reduced the heat there tremendously. This has encouraged people to hold their iftar in those particular areas. The shades have been particularly useful because of rising temperatures in Madinah.

A number of visitors told Arab News of their happiness in paying homage to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and praying in his mosque.
