Iran responds to accusations by Gulf Arabs

Iran rejected accusations from Gulf Arab states that it was meddling in their affairs, saying those countries were "running away from reality", an Iranian news agency reported on Wednesday.
Six U.S.-allied states demanded Iran end what they called interference in the region, in a statement on Tuesday at the end of a two-day summit of the Saudi-led Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), reiterating long-held complaints.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul urged Israel to make peace with the Palestinians as a strategic response to a wave of popular uprisings in the Arab world and to long-term demographic trends working against the Jewish state.
“Israel cannot afford to be perceived as an apartheid island surrounded by an Arab sea of anger and hostility,” Gul wrote in an op-ed piece in the New York Times published on Thursday.
