Mawlid Celebration at the central mosque in Makhachkala was packed with thousands of believers of all ages and social groups. All were united by a single faith in the Creator and with love for His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
The event began with a beautiful reading of the Holy Quran. And the Holy Speech of Allah spread throughout the mosque, covering trembling hearts of all attendees.
The Quranic recitation was followed by a nashid recited by a group of performers, and the audience joined in repeating the words of Salawat upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
Addressing the audience with his welcome speech, the Imam of Makhachkala Central Jum`ah mosque Muhammad Rasul Saaduev presented a scholar of theology from Egypt Dr. Zainulabidin, who spoke about the virtues of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He urged the audience to teach their households - women and children – to love the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), because it will cause to obtain the intercession on the Day of Judgment.
Renowned scholar Muhammad Haji Abdurahmanov raised the issue of revitalizing the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) - the act for which great reward is promised from the Creator.
Imam of Makhachkala Shamil Imam mosque Abdullah Haji Magomedov briefly told the audience about the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the difficulties in the path of spreading Islam, which he and his companions had to go through.
Kazim Haji Temirbulatov, imam of Kazbekovski district spoke about the virtue of reciting Salawat. This is a very blessed deed in whatever form it is read, and the most effective means for illuminating the hearts. Every deed committed by us, either accepted by the Creator or rejected, depending on our intentions when we commit it. The only exception is the Salawat which is accepted even if it is read with the hypocrisy or ostentation.
Video addresses of famous Arab scholars were displayed on wide screen. Dr Usman bin Umar from Dubai – spoke about the permissibility of Mawlid celebrations. Imam of a Mecca mosque, a descendant of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) Muhammad Abdullah Al-Aidarus told that he loves Dagestani people because of their love for Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his descendants. He believes that the reason for this love to Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is the honorable Shaykh Said-Afandi al-Chirkawi under whose gracious influence people’s hearts have changed in Dagestan. The head of all the Ansar descendants, the keeper of relics of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from the UAE, Ahmad al-Khazraji spoke about the grace that believers receive from everything connected with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
Nashids in different languages were performed between sermons and video presentations. These meaningful recitations reunited the listeners’ minds with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), saying Salawat in his honor.
Mawlid (celebrations) in honor of Prophet Muhammad's birthday are annually organized throughout the mosques in Dagestan.
