The cost of Arab Spring turmoil to the economies of the Middle East and North Africa continues to rise while the gains from higher oil prices are diminishing, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Tuesday as it lowered its forecast for gross domestic product growth in 2011 and 2012.

An Israeli general warned on Monday that the risk of all-out war has increased in the Middle East where the Arab Spring of revolts could turn into a “radical Islamic winter.”
“What was considered as the spring of the Arab people could turn into a radical Islamic winter, and this raises the likelihood of an all-out war in the region,” General Eyal Eisenberg said.

1. There is much gloating in the West over what is happening in the Arab countries. They, the West, have been peddling democracy to the world and at times they would assassinate leaders or invade countries so as to impose their democracy. Now the Arabs are doing this work for them. The Arabs themselves are overthrowing their authoritarian Governments so as to, presumably, install democratic Governments in their places.

Muammar Gaddafi’s military success in Libya against the combined forces of NATO and the rebels' outright inefficiency suggest that the scriptwriters and stage directors of the rebellion are somewhere outside the country, and there are rather few ‘ardent revolutionaries’ and executives in Libya. The riot, co-ordinated via the Internet, has not developed into a revolution – either in a color one, or in any other in this country.
Russia, China warn against West interference in Arab spring

Russia and China oppose Western interference in the unrest in the Arab world, the two presidents said Thursday in a declaration.
"The sides believe that the search for settling the situation in the countries of the Middle East and North Africa should take place in the legal field and through political means," said the declaration signed by Presidents Dmitry Medvedev and Hu Jintao.
"Outside forces should not interfere in internal processes in the countries of the region."

Uzbekistan's autocratic President has accused the West of funding this year's Arab uprisings to gain access to oil, gas and mineral reserves.
"The Arab countries where the unrest happened have huge reserves of natural resources, including oil and gas," Islam Karimov said in a broadcast on the anniversary of the end of the Second World War. "If there had been no foreign influence or large foreign financing, there would have been no riots on that scale."
