Tunisia's interior and defence ministries have declared a night time curfew in the capital and seven other suburbs and cities following protests by Salafis and other protesters angered by an art exhibition they say insults Islam.
The clashes came a day after the Spring of Arts exhibition in the upscale La Marsa suburb provoked an outcry from some Tunisians who say it insulted Islam. The work that appears to have caused most fury spelt out the name of God using insects.

One of the leading figures of the Flemish populist Vlaams Belang party, Filip Dewinter (pictured), announced that his anti-immigrants party will be offering a €250 reward to anyone who informs the police of women wearing burqas in public.
Dewinter stressed that the reward will "force the authorities" to implement the law on burqa prohibition regardless of the recent protests. He stressed that burqa is a "cloth prison for women" and reminded that Belgium has a law prohibiting wearing full-body covering burqas in public.
Toyota in Turkey allegedly fires 143 workers due to religious bias

Japanese car manufacturing giant Toyota's Turkish headquarters is alleged to have fired 143 of its employees in March and April because of their religious beliefs and practices.
A news report emerged in the Turkish media earlier this week that Toyota's Turkish branch discriminated against employees -- the majority of who fast during the holy month of Ramadan -- and then sacked 143 employees because of their religion.

Anders Behring Breivik roared a "battle cry" and appeared both angry and joyous as he shot people one by one with a distorted face, survivors of the Norwegian far-right killer's massacre told a court on Wednesday.
"I heard screaming but I couldn't make out the words," Ingvild Leren Stensrud, 17, who was shot in the leg and shoulder, said.
Stensrud, who survived after another victim fell on her, knocking her to the floor and creating the impression that she was dead, said she initially thought Breivik was not alone.

Lawyers for 15 Muslims in the United States barred from boarding commercial flights because they were on the U.S. "no-fly" list will on Friday ask a federal appeals court to reinstate their constitutional challenge of the anti-terrorism measure.
The plaintiffs, who are U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents, said they learned they were on the list when prohibited, without advance warning, from boarding a commercial airliner, and were later denied any means of petitioning the government to be removed from the roster.

The graves of several Muslim soldiers in a cemetery in southeastern France were desecrated over the weekend, officials said Monday. The French president called the act “a slur” on the country’s history.
France has the largest Muslim population in western Europe -- estimated at more than 5 million -- and has struggled with Islamophobia.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned as “provocative” the recent desecration of the Holy Quran in the United States, calling on the U.S. government to apologize to the Muslim world.
Terry Jones, the pastor of the Gainesville, Florida-based Dove World Outreach Center church, set fire to copies of the Quran and a depiction of Prophet Muhammad (S) on April 29.
